Century Bank Hosts MVES Reception
Century Bank of Medford recently hosted an evening reception to benefit Mystic Valley Elder Services’ (MVES) Gap Fund. Held at the Bank’s headquarters on Mystic Avenue in Medford, the evening was an opportunity for individuals to learn about The Gap Fund, an endowment effort that will help elders in the community who don’t qualify for government-subsidized programs. The event, underwritten by Century Bank, was attended by over sixty community members. “The Gap Fund is all about helping elders who are just above state income guidelines or who aren’t considered frail enough for state services,” said MVES Executive Director Daniel J. O’Leary. “So many elders are in this position and MVES appreciates Century Bank’s support as we work to raise money for the endowment.” With the support of private donations, MVES hopes to raise $1 million for the Gap Fund. The interest from this endowment will be used to provide home care services to elders in MVES’ eight communities. “The Gap Fund promises to help elders remain living where they want to be—in their homes,” said Barry R. Sloane, co-president and co-CEO of Century Bank. “Century Bank was honored to host an event that supports such a vital community initiative.” MVES has currently raised approximately $200,000 toward its Gap Fund goal of $1 million.
