A Supplement to MVES' Newsletter

June 2009

We hope you take advantage of the events, contests, new services, and presentations that MVES has to offer this spring. Here’s a snapshot of upcoming opportunities:

  • Support the Gap Fund. MVES’ fourth annual theatre event, Dear Miss Garland, is June 6 at the Stoneham Theatre. Over 90 local businesses and individuals have sponsored the event and MVES anticipates meeting its fundraising goal by netting over $60,000 for the Gap Fund!

  • Attend a Presentation. On June 18, MVES will wrap up its six-part presentation series intended for recently retired individuals with “Lifelong Learning: A Unique Educational and Social Opportunity for Adults 50+” presented by Marilyn Blumsack, M.Ed.

  • Win Red Sox Tickets. Donate $200 or more to MVES’ Meals on Wheels program before June 30 and be entered in a contest to win Red Sox tickets. The winner will watch the Sox play the Tigers on August 13 in great seats (valued at $170 for the pair). The winner will be contacted July 1!

  • Travel to San Francisco. In collaboration with Collette Vacations—a trusted, secure travel agency that has been around for 90 years—MVES is offering a five-day getaway to San Francisco in October 2009! This trip supports the MVES Gap Fund.

  • Volunteer with MVES. MVES is seeking volunteers for several local dining sites to help with daily operations of the lunch program. More Information.

  • Come on in. MVES will begin offering personal informational sessions on the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. and the third Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. at its offices in Malden. MVES staff will be available to discuss programs, home care services, and other resources. This month’s sessions will be June 2 at 10 a.m. and June 18 at 3 p.m. Call 781-324-7705 ext. 100 for more information.

  • Support Your Employees. MVES is offering on-site presentations to the employees of local businesses to ensure that they know about the resources that are available to them and their elder parents.

For more information about any of the above happenings, please call MVES at 781-324-7705.
